With spirits high, we met in the hotel car park nice and early for the start of the day’s drive that would take us to the most northern point of Britain. There was an interesting range of conversations, the Yeti needing Adblue, sausage roll recipes, and the lovely avocado bathrooms at the hotel were all mentioned!
We set off for the short drive along the side Loch Ness towards Inverness in search of petrol and breakfast. Lorne sausage sandwiches and coffee were sourced and we continued north to our first stop, Dunrobin Castle.

If you’ve not visited before I’d highly recommend it, we stopped for about an hour and a half but in truth, you need at least a couple of hours.
From Dunrobin we continued north along the A9 through Brora and Helmsdale and then turned off for John O’Groats. When you get there it really is just a car park, and few gift shops/cafes and of course the world famous sign. It was quite busy when we got there but managed to get in for a group photo. Two of the cars had other ideas and Borise led the way, driving right up the path to the sign and posing for a photo, quickly followed by the MG!

A quick coffee in the wind and rain and we headed even further north (John O’Groats is not the most northern point you can drive to in Britain after all) to Dunnet Head.
After a day of driving 150 miles, we arrived at our lodgings for the evening in Castletown where we were welcomed with a cold beer, Whisky (for some) and a fantastic dinner.

A great day and for me breaking new ground ( never been further north than Lossiemouth….)… great views ( a photo to prove I have been there..) and a great meal at the hotel …
