No, that’s not a reference to the team here at SGR Marketing! The Little Grey Men in question are actually gnomes as portrayed in the books by “BB”
We were approached recently by one of the volunteers at the country park where our office is based, and asked if we could assist with restoring a sign at the start of The Little Grey Men Trail that runs through the country park. We (or should I say our creative director, Phil) immediately accepted the challenge.
This is what we were presented with.
As you can see, Phil’s first challenge was to see if the original artwork was still in existence, after some hours of investigation the answer was no!
The second challenge was to then find a way to be able to read the text on the sign and work out what the images were. This is where Steve came up with the cunning plan to spray the sign with a well-known spray lubricant. This dramatically improved the situation.
Phil spent the next day or so painstakingly recreating the text, sourcing the images, and finally bringing it all together by utilising his Illustrator expertise.
Lastly, but most importantly we sought the advice of our friends at M2 Square Print for a suitable material to print the sign. In this case, a composite aluminium Dibond sheet was used.
The final result looks fantastic and it was proudly set back in its custom frame at the head of the trail.
We are now working on helping to recreate an information leaflet and various other items to promote and signpost the trail.
